Laura Stewart
Laura has worked for Co-operation Ireland for over 4 years; for the last year and a half, she has been the Consortium Co-ordinator of the Irish Peace Centres Project and prior to that she was a development officer for an active citizenship schools and youth project within the organisation.
Before working directly in the peacebuilding sector, she spent 8 years teaching in secondary schools- in Northern Ireland and Uganda. It was as a result of her time in Uganda that she became interested in peace-building and development work, particularly around the issue of child soldiers and the impact of conflict on communities. This led to her completing a Masters in International Development and heading off to Beirut, Lebanon- but that turned into a whole other story!
