Our Programmes
Barry Fennell
Barry has served a number of roles within the Irish Peace Centres. Since 01 March 2010, he has worked as part of the outreach team, bringing the IPC concept to new groups and new communities. Previously, he was the Inter Community Interface Field Worker with the Irish Peace Centres working in a developmental role with a number of groups from marginalised and interface areas, engaging them through a process of experiential learning and reflection with the support of participants, partner groups, local stakeholders and other agencies working on themed areas and real issues.
Barry has experience of dealing with difference as well as equality, diversity and identity issues and organisational/experiential learning through project design and development activities. He has extensive facilitation, project management, group-work, advice and support experience with a range of community groups. He has also developed a range of new projects for area based engagement involving local communities and their representatives, services families, the British Army Welfare Service, and the Ministry of Defence.
Barry holds a Degree in Political Science and European History & Literature, a Postgraduate Diploma in Peace and Conflict Studies and a Masters Degree in Peace Studies, Conflict Resolution Processes, Peace building Strategies, Facilitation & Mediation Techniques all from the University of Ulster. He also tutors part-time for Queens University’s Open Learning Programme in Community Development (Equality, Governance and Citizenship Studies).
